intresting facts about all hair

hey everyone i hope all is well i am going to blog today about some interesting hair facts that
i have learned from people, on-line and in books....so here the go!!

The greatest difference between black and white people's hair is the need for moisture.
many white people look for products to remove the excess oil from their hair because excess oil weighs their hair down my m-i-l taught me that lol!
well we as black and multi-racial people need just the opposite! so remember moisture, moisture, moisture, especially if your hair grade is 3b-4b :)

All hair including black hair grows an average of 1/2 inch per month. you can get up to a inch of new growth each month, by following a healthy regiment, i have archived a minimum 1inch per month since i started my hair journey, how do i know? because i am a nerd, i carry measuring tape in my back pocket lol just kidding but i do measure my new growth, i can be very technical at times lol.

African American or (negroid) hair is the driest hair on the planet! we all should know this by now, because our hair can be very very drying, so once again moisture, moisture, moisture!

Hair is dead not alive!! Even healthy hair is dead. It may be thick and lustrous, but it contains no living tissue! Tiny cup-shaped pits found all over the scalp, are called hair follicles, they produce hair. hair is made of dead cells that have been turned into cylinders of keratin. These cylinders form the hair shaft, which grows at about 1/2inch per month. now even though it's dead, hair contains fats, pigment (melanin), water, traces of minerals and vitamins.
Good hair care is necessary for keeping dead hair vital.

After one year of healthy hair growing your hair should be between 10-12 cm longer.
After five years of growth it will be 60 cm long!
Waist-length hair is 80-90 cm long, if you are starting at ear lenght hair it will take about 5-7 years to get to waist length hair.
people with long anagen times can expect to grow their hair down to their waist.
so basically this go's back to genetics so depending on how long your anagen is, you may never get to waist length hair most people's anagen time will only grow to mbl, which is fine by me mbl is an excellent lenght length!

The average person has up to 120,000 hairs on his or her head.
black hair can sometimes grow a little slower then other races, the reason for this is because our hair is so fragile compared to other races, so if your hair is being mistreated, it will take a while for you to retain the length, because of all of the damage.
this is when a trim may help so you can start fresh.

Asian hair grows the fastest and has the greatest elasticity.
Europeans are more prone than black and Asians to experience hair loss.

There is one thing about you, that your hair cannot reveal ! guess what it is.....................................
ok times up lol your hair can not reveal Your gender!!!!

When a hair dies/sheds it is automatically replaced by the next one.
Each hair can be renewed 20 to 25 times during our lifetime.

nearly everyone 75 years or older has grey hair, in general men tend to become grey a lot younger than women.

Hair colour and texture can be a sign of ethnic ancestry
On average, a hair strand's life span is 5-7 years.

Next to bone marrow, hair is the fastest growing tissue in the human body.

Hair will fall out faster on a person that is on a crash diet! so lose weight the correct way ladies!

The reason hair turns gray is because the pigment cells in the hair follicle start to die, they are responsible for producing "melanin" which gives us color.

Less than four percent of the world population has naturally red hair. That is less than two percent in America. The gene for Ginger hair was discovered in 1995.

Adults have about 120,000 hairs on their head, redheads have the fewest, blondes come in 2nd, brunettes and people who have black hair tend to have the most hairs on their heads.

The first human redheads walked this earth about 50,000 years ago in Africa!
they then spread throughout Northern Europe.

The term "Ill beat you like a redheaded stepchild”. Comes from a southern phrase meaning a child that is the illegitimate off spring of a slave owner.
